Wind Turbines
To maximize efficiency, wind turbines are strategically placed in exposed geographical locations. Consequently, turbines of this scale can be struck by lightning up to 10 times per year. The impact ranges from immediate rotor blade fractures to gondola fires. These failures result in significant repair costs and pose a severe safety risk from falling debris.
To mitigate these risks, effective lightning protection is essential. Our aluminum meshes are specifically engineered for rotor blade shielding. Since blades are typically made of non-conductive glass fiber, our mesh is laminated directly onto the blade tip. This creates a conductive path that prevents the electrical charge from penetrating the blade, protecting the entire structure.
